About Us
Crucial Crisis Comix is an independent comic book publishing company based just outside of Washington D.C. We have been operational, in one form or another, since 1997. Beginning in '97, CCC's Founder and President, David Welcher, gathered a group of aspiring creators for brainstorming sessions after school in the student library every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, thus officially giving birth to Death 7 Productions. Needless to say a lot has changed since then. The name only has changed from Death 7 Productions to New Creation Comix to Vortex Unlimited to 2nd Wave Productions to, finally, Crucial Crisis Comix; which is a subsidiary of Second Wave Studios, LLC. Through the years many people became part of the CCC family, many artists, a few writers and fewer idealists; but none have made such a profound and lasting impact as current COO and creator of Intrepid, Jose Loeri. Jose joined our little group in 2001, and since then he's churned out a plethora of stories, characters and ideas that have been to the ultimate benefit and growth of Crucial Crisis Comix.
With each collaboration, with each rewrite...our story...the story of the Second Wave Universe, has become bigger, bolder and more imaginative.
But what exactly is the Second Wave Universe, you ask?
The Second Wave Universe
At Crucial Crisis Comix, we follow the tenet that variety is the spice of life. To that end, we have crafted what we call the Second Wave Universe or the SWU. The SWU is the continuity in which our various stories are told. It is a world with some similarities to our own, however, as we are sure you will find, there are a great many differences. As the words second wave imply, the SWU is a continuity in transition. It is a world with a rich history just waiting to be mined, leading the way to a very exciting future. Its' stories range in genre from superhero, sci-fi, action, comedy, dramedy, conspiracy, pulp fiction...you name it, the SWU has it.
While the main story of the SWU will play itself out over time, rest assured, your reading experience will not hinge upon endless devotion to an endless number of titles. While our continuity does have a 'big picture', our various titles all stand on their own merits. Yes, there will be interaction between various titles at times, but never without reason or purpose. Our goal is to entertain not to confound. We, at Crucial Crisis Comix, promise an enjoyable reading experience regardless of whichever title you choose to follow.
All things having been said, we at Crucial Crisis Comix guarantee that once you start reading our publications, you'll be a customer for life. "Events" come and go, by great characters are the backbone of great storytelling, and telling great stories is our ultimate goal.
