Profile: The masked adventurer known as Lightning Rod is the self appointed “defender” of Crimson, Maryland. His first appearance in the city coincided with the destruction by fire of the infamous Baker House, a long abandon historical home in Crimson’s Livingston Gardens district. While Lightning Rod is wanted for questioning in connection to the destruction of the Baker House, no formal arson charges have been levied against him. Lightning Rod is considered a criminal in violation of The MacLauchlan Act which prohibits all vigilantism. Despite his status as a fugitive the citizens of Crimson hold Lightning Rod in high esteem. They frequently overlook the vast property damage he causes in apprehending rampaging super villains, citing that he himself has never caused harm to a civilian during any of his battles. In fact Lightning Rod has been known to willingly suffer great injuries for the sake of protecting the innocent. His self sacrificing spirit has also earned him the admiration of the cities paramedics, fire fighters, and policemen, though none will go on record as sanctioning his activities. Lightning Rod openly opposes the administration of Crimson’s current Mayor, A.H. Fury citing vaguely that he is “evil” and must be impeached. The basis for his accusations are currently not known, however, Lightning Rod has aggressively attempted to thwart Fury’s attempts at re-election by various forms of election sabotage, for which he is also wanted by the police.
Abilities: Lightning Rod has the ability to absorb and project electricity. Lightning Rod has been observed “surfing” on waves or “bolts” of electrical currents as well running at tremendous speeds. The relationship between his superhuman speed and electrical powers has yet to be determined. Lightning Rod also claims to have vast superhuman strength. While his strength is indeed impressive, many have observed that it is not nearly as impressive as he claims it to be. Lightning Rod has tremendous physical endurance and appears to heal from injury at an accelerated rate. He can also intercept and manipulate electrical signals including radio waves. Owing to this ability Lightning Rod claims to be able to “talk” to various electronic devices and can hijack a variety of broadcast signals at will.
Ambition: Lightning Rod’s primary ambition is to protect the citizens of Crimson from all harm. Asides from that he greatly desires to end the administration of Mayor A.H. Fury by any and all means.

The Burn Patient’s Ward of the Saint Barabbas Children’s Hospital was secretly dedicated to Lightning Rod after he saved over 20 children from a fire at a day care center.
