“Charlie Company”, 3rd Battalion of Guardian’s 51st Urban Assault Infantry of the 3rd Brigade combat unit of the 32nd Fugitive Retrieval Division is the most storied company in Guardian’s 37 years of paranormal urban defense. Due to the strength of its individual units, Charlie Company usually deployed by platoons to facilitate the capture of escaped paranormal felons. However, in the case of extremely dangerous felons, the entire company would deploy with additional support when needed.
Within Charlie Company one unit routinely distinguished itself as being among the elite urban combat units in Guardian’s history, that unit being it’s 3rd platoon also known as “The Brat Pack.”
The designation “Brat Pack” carried a two fold connotation; first to the age of its members and second to their disposition. Comprised of 26 combat specialists, the Brat Pack’s average age at inception was a mere 19.3 years, unprecedented in Guardian history. The unit was placed under the leadership of Commander Charles “Charlie” Marshal, a seasoned officer and former prodigy himself. Under his strict but skilled tutelage, the Brats gained a reputation of being a swift and brutally efficient unit, and though Marshal was respected by his charges, he was not loved or even liked very much by them. This became a moot point after the infamous events of March 14th 2005 on the Glen Anderson Freeway (See: Notable Barrow Sanctions).
Commander Charles Marshal was killed in action during the attempted capture of “The Canaanite.” Joseph Paxton was promoted to Platoon Commander (at 20 years old the youngest in Guardian’s history), and for the next 3 ½ years The Brat Pack’s fame rose to legendary status.
[Note: After Charles Marshal’s death the Brats were no longer known as excessively brutal in dispensing their duties. Even during Barrow Sanctions they refrained from using excessive force unless absolutely necessary so as to avoid collateral mortality.]
The following are Fugitive Retrieval records that have been set by the Brats:
· Efficiency rating: 98.7
· Captures: 189
· Consecutive captures: 57
· Captures without incident: 71
· Barrow Sanctions: 85
· Consecutive Barrow Sanctions: 15
· Barrow Sanctions without incident: 32
· Unit Commendations: 75
· Individual commendations: 135
The trio of Paxton and squad commanders Derrick Strong and Nadia Chavez formed a triumvirate of sorts, viewing each other as co-equals yet acknowledging a chain of command. Each commander’s possessed mastery of a unique skill that contributed greatly to the success of the unit.
Paxton: Master profiler
Chavez: Weapons and Tactics
Strong: Strategic specialist
The unit’s commanders were supported by an assortment of genius level specialist who, as a whole, had the reputation for being difficult to manage. They displayed slight regard for those they considered beneath themselves, even looking down on the other platoons within Charlie Company. This childish and arrogant disposition, along their indifference towards others appraisal of them further solidified their status as Brats among their peers.
On November 25th, 2008, 18 members of the Brat Pack were killed when their transport exploded in midair over
