"The Store" is a criminal organization comprised of extremely skilled geneticist who created paranormal operatives either for their clients, or for sale on the black market.  While it is not known exactly when The Store came into existence, its activities are believed to date back to the late 80's or early 90's during the Great Mafia War (Mattanza) of Sicily.  

During that extremely violent period, many mafia families turned to paranormal mercenaries to gain a tactical advantage over their rivals.  However, as the death toll from the conflict increased, mercenaries came to be in short supply.  It is generally believed that, during the height of the Great War, The Store rose to prominence.  

Creating mind controlled ("disposable") paranormal henchmen for any family willing to pay them; The Store initiated the first genetic arms race since the close of World War II.  The mafia war itself served as a resume of sorts for The Store as other criminal organizations, including terrorist cells, noticed The Store's handy work and hired them to further their own agendas.  Thus, in a relatively short time, The Story became and international paranormal arms dealer.

While little is known regarding the inner workings of the organization, it is known that The Store has no central location.  It operates as a collection of cells in various lands and is completely mobile, able to abandon any location in favor of another in the event that one base of operations is compromised.  

The identity of The Store's members is also shrouded in mystery with the exception of one individual, Dr. Martin Garver.  Dr. Garver is the only person to be associated with The Store by name or description.  For this reason he is generally believed to be the organizations founder or leader, however that assumption has yet to be confirmed.

In addition to creating human weapons of mass destruction, The Store is also known to engineered biological weapons for its clients.  It is believed that The Store receives the raw materials (including human test subjects) needed to conduct its research from its clients by way of abductions of various unsuspecting individuals.
    

    Currently, The Store is the subject of an international criminal investigation having repeatedly violated the International Paranormal Non Proliferation Act.
